Further Information
Veronika Schäpers is undoubtedly one of the protagonists of the contemporary artist books. In her works, boundaries are blurred. The sophisticated text stagings can neither be described as illustrated, nor as typographic books but can best be characterized as visual creations.
Schäpers also draws on a wide range of book forms, from the classic codex to scrolls, leporellos and objects. But even her works that remain rooted in the codex fluidly transcend the boundaries of the object. Schäpers, an accomplished bookbinder, always creates delicate bindings that form part of the overall work of art.
