Cbl-Newsletter June 2021
Learning is learning!
The ability to learn, accompanied by our ability to reflect on our thoughts and feelings, is a basic requirement for us to adapt to the demands of life.

Making associations, including with what we have previously experienced, is fundamental to our learning process. Action potentials arise from the simultaneous linking of neuronal synapses. This is effectively the learning process in the brain. The temporal contingency of stimuli as a prerequisite for learning makes the cause-effect principle clear. The principle also makes it possible to forget again what has already been learned in a time-dependent manner. Frequent activation in the hippocampus recruits neurons and thus protects them from degradation.
What type of learner are you?
Nobody starts as a blank slate.

Every person uses an innate mental architecture, previous experiences and current state of being in order to assimilate information in the learning process. One of the core competences of the centro del bel libro is to help you tap into different learning modalities and to support you in your desire for creative development and expansion.

Not knowing. Not being able. Not being allowed. These are the greatest barriers.

New ways of thinking and designing are challenges that lead to new solutions and techniques. Zeitgeist in form and function require development and a spirit of experimentation. The centro del bel libro explores our craft and artistry in all its aspects. Our programme reflects the needs to learn in the widest possible range.
Closing of the CBL Survey and Winners of the Raffle
The online survey has ended. We would like to thank everyone who participated and gave us your feedback and some of your valuable time. We strive to make the best use of the information we received in order to tailor our course offering to serve your interests.
The idea of conducting the survey came from Edwin Heim. Therefore, we were happy to involve him in the drawing of the winners of the competition.
At the end of April, on a still quite wintry day on the shore of the lake, Edwin Heim (under careful supervision - see photo) randomly selected the three lucky winners of the prize competition:

No. 16 Voluminous Volumes
Monday, 12. July 2021 to Friday, 16. July 2021
This course is a playful, experimental, but also practical exploration of books with VOLUME. What are books with volume, you may wonder? For starters, you can imagine a conventional album, a bound book consisting of blank pages intended for storing or displaying images, photos, etc.. In the case of an album, the objective is to build a structure that can accommodate the added volume of material the user will place inside. There are many ways of approaching this challenge and we will explore a number of them during the course.
But books with VOLUME encompass so much more than that! How much ‘stuff’ can a book successfully accommodate? Can we incorporate samples or objects with various dimensions? Are the pages themselves thick and sculptural? Does the book itself become a sculptural object? What are the considerations of material, function, size, weight, or robustness that one should consider?
This is a workshop ideal for those interested in Artist Books or those curious to push the boundaries of what books can be. Join us to experiment, share, and delight in VOLUMINOUS VOLUMES!
Here you can get more information.
