Kylin Lee Achermann

Professional training, career
Kylin Lee Achermann is an American-born hand bookbinder and craftsperson. After earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Photography and Cognitive Science, Kylin spent eight years working with and learning from Master Bookbinder Daniel Kelm in his Massachusetts studio. 

Current Position
In 2007, she established her own studio, producing small editions of artists’ books and fine press publications.
Her work focuses on contemporary bookbinding, the development of innovative book and box structures, and the creative application techniques and materials in the design and making of beautiful, functional objects.

Area of Speciality
Since relocating to Switzerland in 2010, Kylin has devoted her practice to research and innovation in book and box structures. Alongside her studio work, she teaches workshops and masterclasses throughout Europe and the United States.
