Paola Fagnola

Professional training, career
Paola grew up surrounded by books at Bottega Fagnola (Turin, Italy) and improved her bookbinding skills at the centro del bel libro.

Current position
She is a graduate of the Scuola d'Alta Formazione per Restauratori dell'Istituto centrale per la patologia degli archivi e del libro (SAF ICPAL) in Rome and teaches at restoration schools (including her Alma Mater) and in workshops for university students, in the fields of design and visual communication.She is currently a postgraduate student at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera (Milan, Italy) in the faculty of techniques and instruments for the study, production, conservation and enhancement of cultural heritage, with a research project on the technical history of Italian bookbinding in the industrial age.

Further information
She has lectured in Turin, Rome, Milan, Alessandria and Spoleto.
In 2014, she won the first prize in the international bookbinding and calligraphy contest “Pieces for Pieces” and was a member of the jury of the Biennales Mondiale de la Reliure d'Art.
