Roland Meuter
Professional training, career
Roland Meuter is a bookbinder who trained with Hans Horlacher in Brugg.
Further education led him to Hugo Peller (Solothurn/Ascona) and to international locations, including Stockholm with A. Hässler.
In 1983, he took over Peller's studio in Ascona and founded Ascona Presse, a small publishing house for bibliophiles.
In addition to teaching courses (including at Ballenberg), he devoted himself to teaching book art through films with Hans Rohrer.
Current position
He has been running his studio in Weggis since 2006.
Further information
His work has received numerous awards, including first prize in the MFB competition (1990).
The ‘Most Beautiful Swiss Books’ award (1991)
and an award in Macerata, Italy (1998).
With exhibitions at home and abroad, a permanent stand at the Frankfurt Book Fair since 1986 and projects involving gold finishing, he is one of Switzerland's most influential bookbinders.
