Franziska Richter
Franziska Richter graduated from the University of Heidelberg with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Literature, Art and Art History. After her formal training in Germany in Hand Bookbinding she continued her training in Book Restoration/Conservation at many well know institutions in the USA such as The Pierpont Morgan Library in New York with Deborah Evetts and Patricia Reyes, The Folger Shakespeare Library with Frank Mowery, The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the N.Y. Municipal Archives to name a few.
After her return to Europe she worked for the State Archives of Baden-Württemberg, Germany, before joining a private restoration company. In 1997 she received her diploma as a State recognized Restorer.
In the last years Franziska has been living in Northern Italy where she has been teaching Book and Paper Restoration as well as working as a freelance restorer an different restoration projects throughout Italy.
Franziska Richter absolvierte ein Lehramtsstudium (Fächerkombination Deutsch und Kunsterziehung) an der Pädagogischen Hochschule Heidelberg. Aufbauend auf einer abgeschlossenen Ausbildung zur handwerklichen Buchbinderin, setzte sie ihre Ausbildung zur Restauratorin in den USA fort, wo sie an vielen namhaften Institutionen arbeitete, z.B. der Pierpont Morgan Library in New York bei Deborah Evetts und Patricia Reyes, der Folger Shakespeare Library in Washington D.C. bei Frank Mowery, dem Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York und den städtischen Archiven der Stadt New York, um nur einige zu nennen.
Nach ihrer Rückkehr nach Europa arbeitete sie für die zentrale Restaurierungswerkstatt des Landes Baden-Württemberg in Tübingen, um anschließend viele Jahre für eine private Restaurierungswerkstatt in der Nähe von Stuttgart zu arbeiten. 1997 machte sie den Abschluss zum staatlich anerkannten Restaurator im Handwerk.
In den letzten Jahren lebte Frau Richter in Nord-Italien, wo sie an einer Fachschule für Restauratoren als Dozentin tätig war und als freie Restauratorin an verschiedenen Restaurierungsprojekten teilnahm.
Franziska Richter a obtenu son diplôme d’enseignement à la Haute Ecole pédagogique (section combinée allemand et étude de l’art). Après avoir suivi une formation de base de relieuse artisanale, elle a poursuivi sa formation aux USA où elle a travaillé dans de nombreuses institutions renommées telles que Pierpont Morgan Library à New York chez Deborah Evetts et Patricia Reyes, le célèbre Folger Shakespeare Library à Washington D.C. chez Frank Mowery, au Metropolitan Museum of Art à New York et aux archives de la ville de New York pour n’en citer que quelques-unes.
Après son retour en Europe, elle a travaillé pour l’Atelier de restauration centrale de Baden-Württemberg à Tübingen et ensuite de nombreuses années pour un atelier de restauration privé dans la région de Stuttgart. En 1997, elle a été reconnue dans le métier comme restauratrice.
Ces dernières années Madame Richter vit au Nord de l’Italie où elle donne des conférences dans une école spécialisée pour les restaurateusr et a participé, en tant que restauratrice indépendante, à différents projets de restauration.
